Explanation

OK this is what I posted to my wedding community so I dont have to type it over. it explains my comment last night:

Agghhhh I just want to cry thing should not be this difficult!!!
Okay so everything has been going great and smoothly so far and earlier todya I found my dress was on sale so I was so happy abou thtat and la la la things are great and then the trouble starts. First I have to give a little bit of background for this all to make sense:

Jacob and I originally in square one of wedding planning picked our date of September 30, 2006. We picked this date because we were moving to Oregon in May and he needed time to get a job set up with insurance before we got married but we also wanted the wedding to beoutside so we needed it to be late enough he had time to find a job but early enough it wouldnt be too cold for outdoors. Now granted September still is a little chilly it averages about 65 degrees but Oregon coast is kinda cold all year long regardless.

Okay well now we aren't moving because we wont have the money. So tonight my Mom has in ingenious idea to research moving the wedding up because my father is a teacher and he and my brother all my cousins' kids' and anyone under 22 including myself attending my wedding is going to have to take off from school to go. I will be in my junior year just starting at a 4 year college (i was at a community college) and all this other stuff. So it would be more convenient for everyone if we got married during the summer when people would be out of school. Now we did already send the save the dates but that can be taken care of the invitations havent been sent yet and I still have some late STDs i havent even sent yet because I need addresses. My mom also threw in that they could stay a week if we did it when school was out and they could make a vacation out of the whole ordeal. Well we were thinking August so I called the location (its a wedding package so everything is arranged through her) and asked what other weekends were available and she said she's booked up in August, but she has July 08, 2006, June 24, 2006, and June 10, 2006 available and that if we were willing to consider a weekday she may have more options. Well June 10th is out because some kids are stil in school.

So now here my dilemma. I dont know whether to change the date because really it would be more convenient for everyone, or just leave the date because everything has already been set and these people already agreed to pull their kids out of school or take off school. Then I start thinking about the possible other dates and for whatever reason I don't like the idea of a July 8th wedding because aside from the fact its independance day weekend I think the word July is much less romantic than September (I have no idea where I am getting this from but that was just my thought process I didnt like the July idea) So then it's between the June and September dates. Getting married sooner doesnt bother me and I think I would actually like getting married sooner but I think I'm so used to the September 30 thats why it seems like the perfect date. Then Jacob tells me that June would really work better because his brother graduates the weekend before and even though I thought we decided not to go because of money we are going and he was going to drag me along whether I liked it or not. Blah that wasnt exactly how it went but thats the gist of it. Then our honeymoon is a whole nother thing. It has been set for Nov 4-11 so we were already going to have to wait a month if we bump the wedding to June we'll have to wait 4 months. So the pros and cons:

September 30:

PROS:
Original Date
Sounds more romantic? I may be crazy...
Closer to honeymoon
Average Temperature: 65 degrees
Chance of rain in September is the same as June but in October it doubles and September 30 is one day before October I dont hink the weather knows months lol.

CONS:
Everyone will have to take off school
Probably better chance of rain (it's an outdoor ceremony)

June 24:

PROS:
It's closer
It's more convenient for everyone
Average Temperature: 63 degrees
Chance of rain same as September
We can save money and go to Matt's (Jacob's brother) graduation and get married all with one plane ticket/trip

CONS:
Farther from honeymoon
It's not the original date
It's sooner (haha that kinda contradicts, but you know what I am saying I hope)
For superstitious my mom brought up the the date is sorta 666, see- 06/2+4/06 = 6/6/6 heh...

I dont know what I want or what I want more and I cant weigh out the odds and quite frankly I wish my mom never brought it up cause its giving me a headache and I cant just say screw it because it is more convenient to move it up but like i said at the same time everyone already had agreed to take off.

UUUUGGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!! Someone help me please. I can't ask anyone aorund here for advice because they are all involved and as mind boggled as I am. What do you think?

4 days:-)

The countdown till Christmas is on. I totally missed my doctor's appointment yesterday it completed slipped my mind. I have been working like crazy over break I actually spent the night at Mom's house (with Jay of course) the night before last becuase we were up working till 4am and then she let me sleep in (I wish she would have woke me!) till 10 and I started working again. Actually right now I am getting ready to leave to go work but I thoght I'd stop and update real quick. I got my doctor's appointment rescheduled which was good. So in between my pre op visit and blood work on the 27th and my oral surgery on the 30th I think Mom and I are going dress shopping if we have time. I cannot wait to try on my possible future wedding dress:-) January is going to be crazy. I am going to keep working for my Mom and doing school and planning for the wedding and getting ready for the little move in March and getting ready for the big move in May and taking care of our tax returns and up keeping the house. Yeah I will be busy:-) I'm excited though, the extra classes and time at school is going to really help. I will be done with my Bachelors 3 months after I turn 21. That's so cool. Then I can run a business or work in an advertising department till we start having babies. I definitley want to be a stay-at home Mom and raise my children right. I feel horrible for all the Mothers that choose to work and neglect their kids or have no choice but to work. Especially after Developmental Psychology, I have always know I wanted to be a stay at home Mommy at least until my kids are in school but learning about the effects on children without consistent parental care really affirmed my decision. Once my kids are in school I will go back to work during those hours but I definitley want to be able to be home to raise my kids. I actually am also considering going for a Masters Degree after I finish up my bachelors since it would only take me another 2-3 years. I will see how life takes me though. Just some random thoughts:-) Well I am off to work so I will update later:-)

Lindsay

Insurance is a pain

Lots of issues with the whole insuance thing. Also it looks like we may be moving to Oregon in May rather than June. Jacob wants to try and have something all set up for him when he gets there like he did here (police force but then he ended up not taking that job). Insurance is such a pain. It's crazy moving right befoe the wedding too but it will work.

I talked to Sheila again this morning (mill creek gardens) the honeymoon is included in the package. However, that is if it is in the United states excluding Hawaii or anywhere in Mexico and if we go to her Cabo resort we get 8 days rather than 7. Anyone ever been to Cabo? If it's outside that area then she pays the first $500-600 and you pay the rest. it looks like it will end up more around $8500 plus 17% gratuity than $9000. Which is good I suppose. Jacob and I went around to the jewelers the other night and I picked out all the rings I liked. He got a bunch of business cards and now the wait begins. Hopefully it will be very soon.

On the brightside both of us will have excellent tax returns this year we means more wedding money. There is so much to figure out yet. Mill Creek Gardens looks like the place we will probably go with, I think it's beautiful and I am excited about it. However I still want to get married at the church of our lady, but very few people would be able to come and at isn't something we can really look too much into until after the proposal and *official* engagement. I don't know what to call us right now. We are like in limbo. It's weird.

His birthday is getting closer and closer, I am debating what to get him and I think I might change my mind but I dont know yet. Speaking of money (well sorta) I need to go deposit his check for him. Next paycheck is going to be really big he got tons of overtime this week. They want to bump him to salary but with as much overtime as he gets I think he will be losing money.

I need to go grocery shopping so bad. We are out of everything, dishwashing detergent, milk, cat food, eggs, bacon, etc. I also ned to decide what to do with my cat I cant find the vet she got her shots from and I don't want to have to pay $50 for her to get them again. May not seem like much but on top of the $80 to get her fixed I'd almost rather listen to her yowl.

The Location

*Sigh* So I have found my perfect dream place to get married. And now I have my heart all set on it. Jacb and I had been looking through places and I found this one and really fell in love with it as did Jacob. It's in Salem, Oregon which kinda works out good because half Jacob's family lives in Seattle, WA and half lives in Pendleton, OR and a large portion of my family and my bridesmaids live a little north of Sacremento, CA. So it's KIND OF in the middle. The rest of my family is in Canada, Virginia, and Indiana so it's going to be a long way for them anyway.

Its at Mill Creek Gardens. I found it via the internet since the wedding is going to be in Oregon and I am in Virginia and talk about a small world the cousin that lives with us know the owner of the place because his uncle's one again off agin wife worked there for a long time. Sooooo I am hoping for a possible discount because it looks like we are going to be spending about 9-11 grand. BUT it uncludes everything from the reception dinner, to the hair stylist, to the room, and if its done on a weekend it includes the honey moon. Actually, here is a list of what is included:

Wedding Ceremony Cake & Toasting Table Catering & Reception
Event time:all day

Six hours with event coordinator

Bride & Groom dressing room

Complimentary snack tray

Parking Attendants

Gift table with linens

Unity table with linens

Guest registry table with linens

Guest seating

3 Wedding signs & balloons

1 Hour rehearsal

Rehearsal dinner for 15 people

Guest book & pen

Unity candles

1 Night stay at Mill Creek Gardens B&B (Bride & Groom)

1 Night before ceremony stay at Mill Creek Gardens B&B (Bride & Bridesmaids)
* Some decorations provided
*Honeymoon Package International & Domestic
Cake provided

Cake table with linens

Serving set

Mints & nuts

Coffee & punch service

Toasting glasses
(Provided by Countryside Catering)

Menu #1 buffet or BBQ style

Service table with linens

Centerpieces

Tables & chairs with linens

Disposable tableware

Serving attendants

Set up & break down

Clearing & Cleaning

Coffee & punch service
* Some decorations provided

Covered stage for band or DJ

Outdoor dance floor

Bar

*ASK FOR DETAILS
We are also happy to design for you a custom wedding package.
We can arrange for you or refer you to:
Ministers – Photographers - Videographer - Florist – Bakers
Cosmetologists – Tent Rentals – Musicians – Vocalists – DJ’s – Limos - Carriages

Is that a good deal? we'll say the high. 11,000 for a weekend (unless we can get a discount)? I have no idea what a wedding is supposed to cost. Because what it is really is $9000 plus 17% gratuity (thw edding and catering staff) and any little extra's. The repception dinner is paid for for 15 people it is an extra $10 for anyone extra. Reception dinner is just the two families right? Or are all the brides maids and groomsmen supposed to come too? Assuming it is just families it would be: Myself, Jacob, My Mother, My Father, My Brother, His Mother, His Brother, His other brother, His sister, His aunt, His Uncle, His Cousin, his other cousin, his other cousin, and his other cousin...but then I should invite my cousins, he grew up with his. I don't know. who are you supposed to invite to the reeption dinner? Maybe it should just be adults? but then that leaves people out that are family (his youngest brother and sister are 16 and 11) I have no idea who do you invite to a dinner?

Ok so here are pictures and a link to the Mill Creek Gardens:
Virtual Tour

More on all this later, I gotta go meet my baby for lunch!

Lindsay

My thoughts on people in the wedding

The groomsmen, their relation, and their current age:
Matthew (Jacob's brother, 18)
Ben (Jacob's youngest brother, 16 on January 30)
Michael (Jacob's Cousin he grew up with, 21)
James (Jacob's Cousin in Oregon, 24?)
Adam (Jacob's Cousin that lives with us, 21)
Drew (Jacob's best friend, 18)
Sean (My brother, 15)

The Ringbearer's:
Cylan (James' son, 4)
Conner (James' other son, 3)

The Bridesmaids and relation:
Jamie (My cousin)
Sacha (My cousin)
Alyssa (My cousin)
Amber (My cousin)
Lizzie (Jacob's sister)
Shauna (My friend, Drew's Girlfriend)
Tia (Jacob's cousin, James and Adam's sister)

The Flower Girls:
Sydney (Sacha's daughter)
Riley (Amber's daughter)

I want it all to be even. one problem though is Tia has a son that is Cylan's age and also Cylan's best friend. I have never met him but he is close to everyone in their family just as Cylan and Conner. Also Sydney has a little sister Chayse. I wouldn't mind have 3 flower girls I suppose, but three ring bearers is weird. I don't even want three flower girls, but I dont want to leave anyone out:-/

My Dad and Mom's side:
Mom
Dad
Sean
Rhonda
Lonny
Jake plus date
Josh plus date
Jamie
Tim plus Cody
Ryan plus Jack
Amber plus Riley
Allen plus Chayse
Sacha plus Sidney
Allen Dean
Alyssa
Alyssa's Dad
Alyssa's Mom
Alyssa's Sister
Marcia
Frankie
Bryan
Gram
Grandma
Ricky
Jan

My other:
Shauna
Sandy
April
Reese
Bekah
Krista
Kelly
Joel
Zumi

Jacob's Mom and Dad's Side:
Mom
Dad
Matt
Ben
Lizzie
Grandma Sherri plus date
Grandpa Wilks plus wife?
Luke
Rachel
Nick
Jody
Jesse
Michael
Grandma Myrna
Grandpa Sabey
Joe
James plus Cylan and Conner
Adam
Tia plus Jesse
Tammy
Chrissy
Fallon
Fawn
Johnnie
Other Cousins

Other Jacob:
Drew

So that is roughly 70 people if you count the kids as 1 each. I think we will probably end up with about 100 at the wedding. I know I am missing alot It MAY be 150 but I am think more around 100-125. Is that average? Too much? Too little? hmm..

The vacation and birthday

This is going to be a great next two months. Wintergreen trip has been planned. Wintergreen is a ski resort that is open all year long, they have paintball, horseback riding, Fancy restaraunts, swimming, yoga classes, Massage Spa, and stuff like that during the no ski seasonal months. they have a bunch of condos up there and Jacob and I have rented one out with our friends Shauna and Drew (They have been together nearly 3 years) and his cousin Adam and his on again off again (currentley off again) girlfriend Krista. I think it will be a lot of fun, we are going up there November 11,12,and 13th.

The schedule:
- Party one night
- Get dressed up and go out to a nice dinner the other night
- Girls do Yoga class
- Jacob and I horseback riding (we both grew up around horses)
- Every night/Day Hot tub on the porch
- Boys do paintball
- Jacob and I Couples Massage

We got a pretty good deal for $250 per couple for 3 days and two nights.

It includes 3 bedrooms, ful kitchen, deck with Hot tub, Jacuzzi Tub in the bathroom, fireplace, and driveway type parking. Also allows full acces to swimming pool and game room. So that should be fun. I'll take pictures and post them on here.

Also before the trip on Halloween, which I am excited about anyways because it is the first halloween I will get to hand out candy to trick-or-treaters (I always lived on a highway or in an apartment that didn't get trick or treaters). But nt just that it is Jacob's birthday. On the 28th I am throwing him a party with all our close friends. It will end up being Me, Adam (cousin), Shauna, Drew, and our gay friends Joel and Zumi. It should be a lot of fun I am getting a halloween pinata and the apartment is getting decorated. Then on the 31st My mom and I are throwing him a "home" party at her house just him and Adam and the family (family-to-be anyways). That's going to be on his birthdya nad is when I plan to give him his gifts from me.

On the 22nd we were supposed to go to Kings Dominion I have to call my old work and see what is up with that (Looooong story, don't ask). Anyhow that is what is coming up:-)

The Ring

Okay I am officially WAY too picky. I have the idea of the ring I want in my head. Simple enough, it's not too involved, it's just how I want it. One big stone in the middle, two medium-small ones on the sides, tiny diamonds on the band after that, maybe a seeker stone. White gold, nice frame. Sounds simple so i start looking up rings. They all seem to sit too high (I dont want it to be set to high off my finger I think it will look weird and get caught on things), or the band is too thin (I want a thicker band but not too thick), or the set or cut is ugly. then finally I was just like geez I am too picky. However I did find quite a few rings I really liked. Also realistically I know whatever he gets me I probably will adore just because it is from him.

Still though, I want to like the piece of jewelry I am oing to be flaunting around for the rest of my life you know? Did anyone else stress this much about their ring? Did anyone not like there ring?

Ok so here are some of the rings and styles I liked:

Ok here is what i DON'T want but is similar to my description and I tend to keep finding when I search. These are the ones I either don't like or I don't think will look good on me. Maybe someone else but not me.

Okay so the D.Vatche ones were my favorite, they best matched the idea of what I would want in a ring. I'm so excited, getting married, planning a wedding. I know everyone says it's hectic but I think it sounds like somuch fun and as of yet it is fun. The only not fun part is the money. Wouldn't it be great if everything was free? lol j/k. I am on like a permenant wedding high, mention the word wedding or engagement and I'm all smiles. I'm not even officially engaged yet:-) But it's in the process so it's all good. Yeah, I'm pretty much just happy:-)

Introduction

So all of my wedding stuff was starting to get in the way of the everyday stuff so I decided to seperate it. For those of you who don't know me personally my name is Lindsay and my soon to be fiance's name is Jacob. The initial engagement hasn't happened yet. rings are expensive so these things take time but all the same we have started looking into the different aspects of things we will need for planning our wedding and I am starting to look at magazines and such.

Yesterday he told me I really need to start showing him the kind of rings I like, tonight we are going to go through our third bridal magazine together. I really feel like a complete dork sometimes, I get so excited about the wedding. Is this normal? Haha I feel like a little kid. I have always loved planning things though, and I couldnt be happier with the man I am so privileged to be able to spend the rest of my life with.

I joined a few communities on my other journal, I think now I am going to transfer them over to here. I know only the basics on planning a wedding and have only been to one when I was like 6. Soooo needless to say i am unexpeienced in the area. I really do want this to be the best day of my life though. Everyone tells me I need to start planning early. I like that though. I like to budget and I realize I really need to.

Currently Jacob and I live together in an apartment with his cousin. I was working but as of recent and wanting to quit and find a new job. Jacob asked me to quit and let him be the soul provider while I just go to college and work for my mom on the side. It has worked out well. His 20th bithday will be Halloween. I have taken my last paycheck aside for that. We have our finances worked so I take care of all the money. I am much better at budgeting and paying bills than he is so it works out nice. Each paycheck (he gets paid weekly) I put $100 in each of our savings. My savings is for the wedding, his is for the engagement ring and college to my knowlege. Then $50 spending cash in his checking. The rest goes into a bills account. His cousin pays 1/3 of the bills so that helps as well. The money I receive from the sidework I do helping my mom (she works for aflac I make presentation packets, do secretarial work, and organize stuff to help her out) is my own money to do as I please.

We are moving back to his homein Oregon this June. It's scary because I wont know anyone other than his family but I think I will really like it out there. That is where we plan to start our lives. I currentley enrolled at central virginia community college finish up my general transfer credits. I need to start applying to oregon colleges.

Both our families are supportive of our engagement however my mom doesnt like the idea of me moving across the country. Can't blame her, we currently live 20 minutes from eachother. I know it will be hard on her.
